Serve Your Deviled Eggs on Plates, Platters, or Trays

Personally, I believe that deviled egg plates are essential in every household. Every kitchen cabinet should have at least one dish, plate, platter, or tray specifically designed for serving deviled eggs. It is one of those specialty plates that any cook needs to have at least once or twice a year. In fact, I discovered that once I had a designated plate for serving deviled eggs, I found myself preparing them more frequently for my family to enjoy.

Whether you’re entertaining guests at a party in your home or planning to bring your deviled eggs to a family event, using an egg plate with indentations makes serving them so much easier. Moreover, there are countless beautiful designs available, making it hard to resist having at least one in your collection. I will present a selection of new deviled egg plates that are available for your next serving of deviled eggs in detail below.

A Pretty Egg Plate for Spring

While this deviled egg plate can be used throughout the year, its delightful botanical design makes it especially suitable for spring or Easter table settings, adding a lovely touch to your guests’ dining experience.

Hard Boiling Your Eggs and Achieving Successful Shell Removal

Have you ever encountered difficulties when making deviled eggs, such as eggs that are undercooked or too hard, or struggled with peeling the shells, resulting in unsightly blemishes on the egg whites? Let Grandma Bev guide you through the art of hard-boiling eggs and peeling them perfectly.

To achieve consistent results, I personally use an enamelware pan exclusively for boiling eggs. For some reason, the enamel heats the eggs just right. Here’s my method: I place the eggs in the pan and cover them with water. I bring the water to a rapid boil, then turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let it sit on the heated burner for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, I pour out the hot water and run cold water into the pan, leaving the eggs in the water. By keeping them cold, you can prevent the yolks from turning green. To peel the eggs, I lightly tap each egg on the side of the sink to create cracks all around, and then I roll the egg in my hands to loosen the film and shell. While peeling the shell, I recommend running cold water over your hands and the egg to facilitate the process.

Using this method, I consistently achieve perfectly cooked and peeled eggs, which are crucial for making delicious deviled eggs.

For the Summer Picnic

Classic Deviled Eggs Recipe

Recipe Type: Sides

Serves: 12 Deviled Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs (peeled and cut lengthwise)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • Paprika for garnish

Instructions:

  • Remove the egg yolks into a small bowl and mash them with a fork until you achieve a granular texture.
  • In the same bowl, mix together mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, relish, salt, and pepper.
  • Sprinkle a light amount of paprika over the mixture in the empty egg white shells. Pro tip: Using a cake decorating tube makes the filling process easier.
  • Refrigerate the dish for up to one day before serving, covering it lightly with plastic wrap. To prevent the plastic wrap from messing up the egg filling, you can insert toothpicks in the center of the eggs.

Notes:

Many people choose to garnish their deviled eggs with paprika, which is a great traditional option. However, if you’re looking for some different ideas, consider the following garnishes:

  • Sliced olives
  • Chives
  • Parsley
  • Pimento
  • A small amount of pickle relish

Deviled Egg Plates for the Christmas Holiday:

You’ll be surprised to find deviled egg plates designed specifically for Christmas-themed presentations. The one depicted here features a lovely green Christmas wreath design, but there are various other designs available.

As you can see, there are numerous options for serving your deviled eggs. Your specialty plate can be whimsical, seasonal, or more traditional—it’s entirely up to you. Deviled egg plates come in designs that can fit any decor or season throughout the year.
